Chronic Fatigue Quiz

Back in 2015-2016 I was experiencing numerous debilitating symptoms that I’d been trying to ignore for some time.  But my work and home life was suffering so I had no choice but to seek the help of my GP and other Health Professionals. Despite all the blood tests, x-rays and scans they couldn’t find anything abnormal. I was terrified. I was constantly exhausted, felt anxious and overwhelmed, and had such bad ‘brain fog’ that I genuinely thought I had early onset dementia.

One day I bumped into 2 ex-work colleagues and didn’t even recognise them, let alone remember their names, it was so embarrassing! Some days I couldn’t get out of bed due to the fatigue, or work out how to get dressed properly due to my impaired concentration and memory.

Eventually I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), sometimes referred to as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.).  I found little in the way of support, but eventually learned how to get better and stay this way.  I was so inspired by my own journey back to health that I retrained as a Specialist Practitioner and Wellbeing Coach and am now fully qualified to support others to do the same.

If my story sounds like you but you’re still not sure if I can help, just complete the Chronic Fatigue Quiz below.

  3. Do things that you used to do without even thinking feel completely overwhelming?

  4. Are you feeling anxious and wired all the time and struggle to relax?

  5. Are you too fatigued to get through the day, even when you’re inactive?

  6. Do you find it difficult to concentrate or remember things?

  7. Do you suffer from headaches and/or tinnitus (ringing in your ears)?

  8. Are you overly accident prone?

  9. Do you go to bed super-early just so you can get through the next day?

  10.  Are your muscles aching so much you find it difficult to do even simple day-to-day tasks?

  11.  Are you struggling with your job, or have you given up work because you just can’t function how you used to due to overwhelming symptoms of fatigue and brain fog?

  12.  Do you have little or no social life as you just don’t have the energy?

  13.  Do you put everyone else’s needs first?

  14.  Does your eyesight seem worse some days, especially when your eyes get tired?

  15.  Do you feel sensitive to bright lights, loud music, strong fragrances, or irritations such as coarse fabrics on the skin?

  16.  Do you have cold hands and feet and/or struggle to keep yourself the right temperature?

  17.  Are you embarrassed and/or in pain due to digestive issues such as bloating, wind, constipation or diarrhoea?

  18.  Have you sought help from professionals only to be told the test results are normal and to come back again in 6 months if you are not feeling any better?

  19.  Do you feel completely alone, misunderstood and judged as being lazy when people say things like “pull yourself together” or “there’s nothing wrong according to the tests”, or “it’s all in your mind”?

  20.  Have you been diagnosed with a chronic exhaustive condition and advised to “pace yourself” with little or no support to help you understand or cope with the myriad of symptoms, let alone get better?

Now add up the scores.  If you answered “Yes” to 5 or more of the above questions and you’ve been experiencing these symptoms for longer than 3-6 months you may have a Chronic Exhaustive condition (such as CFS/ME, Fibromyalgia, or Post Viral Fatigue).
